Another bespoke solution to an anti-ligature window hardware challenge.

As with our earlier news story Blast Proof Windows 17th November 2014 we were called in to solve a problem on the windows fitted to a number of mental health units where service users and staff were finding that the air vents in the windows were literally a pain in the neck! Excessive airflow was making the building chilly and besides that the vents could be used as a ligature point our brief was to solve these two urgent problems by designing a replacement vent which was ligature resistant and regulated the air flow.

The team soon hit on a design that achieved these objectives and following independent testing to TS001:2013 supplied the vents within four weeks. Saving the end customer, a substantial six figure sum as without this solution the windows may well have to been replaced.
