A best selling product

Since the launch of  the high tech nanotechnology anti-microbial coating TouchClean® it has become a best selling product. Now used in many schools, hospitals and other institutions where it is a silent guardian working a 24 hour seven day a week shift to protect people against viruses, bacteria and mould organisms.

TouchClean® is available as a ready applied invisible coating on all Dortrend’s products but can also be applied by spray coating to almost any surface where its photocatalytic action is powered by Ultra Violet frequencies in daylight or artificial light enabling it to destroy bacteria, spores, viruses, mould, odours and pollutants. It avoids the need for chemical cleaning and the by-products are harmless. Once applied it is presents no hazards to people or animals and goes on protecting for many years.

Originally developed by Dortrend as a coating for door furniture making it an ideal component of general anti-microbial programmes in hospitals, care homes, detention centres and other places where vulnerable people are cared for. The coating is also applicable where people congregate, such as buses, trains, nightclubs, cinemas, taxis, canteens and restaurants as well as where anti-microbial control programmes are indicated including, doctors surgeries, dental surgeries, schools and nurseries. TouchClean® can be used to protect against a broad range of pathogens and is effective against MRSA, SARS, c. difficile, e.coli, as well as the much publicised swine flu. It has recently achieved great results in a coronavirus test which is available on request this was conducted by a UKAS independent test lab and has various proven anti-viral tests.

Independently Tested Anti-Microbial Coating

TouchClean™ anti-microbial coating has been independently tested to EN 13697:2001, a stringent European standard for chemical disinfectants and antiseptics used in food, industrial, domestic, and institutional environments.

Real-World Surface Testing to EN 13697:2001

EN 13697:2001 is a quantitative non-porous surface test that evaluates bactericidal and fungicidal activity under realistic conditions. TouchClean was applied to a metal surface, replicating actual use on door hardware, before MRSA bacteria were introduced for testing.

Why Surface-Based Testing Matters

Some antimicrobial products are tested in aqueous (liquid) environments, which do not reflect real-world use on touch surfaces. TouchClean’s testing focuses on dry, high-touch surfaces, ensuring results that accurately represent in-use performance.

Safe, Cost-Effective Antimicrobial Door Hardware

TouchClean hardware is a safe and cost-effective range of antimicrobial door handles, offering protection against bacteria and viruses on frequently touched surfaces. Test certificates are available upon request, providing confidence in performance and compliance.
